Who we serve

Retirees and Pre-Retirees

The ten years around retirement hold more irreversible decisions than any other stretch of your financial life. We help you make them in the right order, with the tax return open on the table.

Who this is for

  • People within about ten years of retirement who want to know whether the numbers work
  • New retirees turning savings into a monthly paycheck
  • Households deciding when to claim Social Security and how to bridge to Medicare

Problems it solves

  • No clear answer to "how much can we spend?"
  • Large pre-tax balances that will create a required-minimum-distribution tax problem later
  • Concentrated employer stock or an old 401(k) lineup that was never rebalanced

What makes it different

A CFA manages the portfolio and a CPA/PFS, CFP® handles the planning, so withdrawal order, Roth conversions, and tax-loss harvesting are coordinated instead of handled by different people.

What we work on together

  • Retirement income plan. How much you can spend, from which accounts, in what order, and what happens in a bad market.
  • Social Security and Medicare timing. Claiming strategies and IRMAA planning, modeled with your taxes.
  • Roth conversions and RMDs. Filling low tax brackets in the early retirement years so required minimum distributions do not push you into higher ones later.
  • Portfolio transition. Moving legacy holdings into a Personal Index Portfolio within a tax budget you set.
  • Estate coordination. Beneficiaries, account titling, and working alongside your attorney.

Questions about retirees and pre-retirees

Do you prepare our tax return?

No. We do the tax planning, such as Roth conversion amounts, withdrawal order, and charitable timing, and coordinate with your tax preparer, who files the return. Integrity Financial Planning is not a CPA firm.

When should I start retirement planning?

Ideally five to ten years before you stop working. That window is long enough to shift savings between account types, plan Roth conversions, and unwind concentrated positions gradually.

How do you decide when I should claim Social Security?

We model claiming ages against your health, spousal benefits, other income, and the taxes each path creates, then pick the strategy that best supports your plan rather than simply maximizing lifetime benefits.

Do you help with Medicare?

We help you plan the transition to Medicare, including the income-related premium surcharges (IRMAA) that Roth conversions and large withdrawals can trigger. We do not sell Medicare policies.
